Seventeen Palestinian children have arrived in Italy to receive medical care and will be welcomed in various Italian hospitals. This is the positive side of the situation, but the flip side is that the number is far too small. Many are still left behind.

Our Mariangela Pira highlights an emergency that must be addressed. According to the WHO, since October 2023, over 10,600 patients, along with more than 12,000 companions, have been evacuated. Over 16,500 patients, including 4,000 children, still require medical evacuation.

“Let’s start from the premise that treating some children is better than nothing. Because it is nothing if you remain trapped in Gaza. Italy takes in only a few compared to the urgency, and other European countries do far less.”

Diciassette bambini palestinesi sono arrivati in Italia per ricevere cure mediche, saranno accolti in vari ospedali italiani. È la faccia buona del sesterzio, il suo rovescio è rappresentato dal fatto che sono troppo pochi. Tanti quelli che restano indietro.

"Partiamo dal presupposto che curare alcuni bambini è meglio di niente. Perché di niente si tratta se si resta imprigionati a Gaza. Anche l’Italia ne porta pochi rispetto all’urgenza che c’è ma altri Paesi europei fanno molto meno".
