Mozambique – Traveling Cinema with UNIDO and AMOCINE (March–June 2024)

Between March and June 2024, we were in Mozambique to carry out an awareness-raising activity focused on the development of agri-food value chains in the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Manica. The initiative is part of a broader project aimed at strengthening the economic opportunities of small rural producers, improving access to information, agricultural services, and market networks.

To reach the most remote communities, we used a simple yet highly effective tool: traveling cinema. With a mobile caravan equipped with a screen, projector, and sound system, we toured several rural districts, bringing films, educational videos, and discussion sessions directly to the villages. This approach allowed us to engage a wide audience, create spaces for dialogue, and facilitate the sharing of knowledge on sustainable farming practices, cooperative work, and economic opportunities for young people and women.

The initiative was carried out in collaboration with UNIDO, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, which supports economic growth in developing countries through inclusive and productive development projects. Alongside UNIDO, AMOCINE, the Mozambican Filmmakers Association, participated in the project, promoting film culture in the country and supporting local productions and outreach activities through audiovisual media.

Thanks to this collaboration, the project was able to reach rural communities extensively, encouraging active participation, promoting agricultural cooperatives, training in sustainable practices, and increasing the involvement of women and young people in the economic development of the territory.
